Antique Day From Hell

Hi everyone.Hope everyone had a nice friday and is ready for New Years.I know I am ready for the New Year and hope it is alot better than this year.Especially financially and for me and my husband to get our shit together and live together permanently in the same house and country. He has been here since the end of October and goes back to England Jan 12th.Trying not to think about us being seperated again.        Anyway the main post is my some what un lucky antique shopping day.I got payed today from all that hard work from my second job and had been planning on getting my cowgirl boots I found the other day and planned going today to get them. But when I woke up I looked at my vanity *rose* and thought nope going to go see if her sister the dresser that went with her was still at the shop.So when hubby was finally ready we headed out.We got to the shop and I was super excited they were open.I emediatley rushed to find the ice bucket that matches my glass set and didn't see it so thought I will look after I see if the dresser is still up stairs.I turned around and saw Roses sister being wheeled out the door into this couples van.All I saw was the beautiful detail like rose has going out the door.I said to my husband "she's going out the door".Shes's going out the door."My heart sunk so bad that I was to late.I immediatly started to cry.It was embarrassing to say..I know it's silly but I have been after this set for months but couldn't afford both at the same time so I had to keep checking on it.I had to move into another section of the store so no one could see me upset and crying.                                                           I don't think I would have been upset like that if I had gone upstairs and it was already gone. But I had just got there with the money and to see it leave right in front of me is a whole different thing.I know this happens with antiquing but it sucked.I felt like when that nasty Ebay thief steals your item in the last second of bidding.I didn't even want to be there anymore. The couple that bought her looked like they weren't even collectors. They looked like people who needed a dresser for a spare room and I hope they realise they have a 1920's beauty and it better not land in some childs room where they climb all over it and destroy it.                                                                                                  So once I got myself together I looked for the ice bucket and apparently someone nabbed it.Then my little cup set someone bought the damn cremer to it so I said F**ck that.don't want that now.lol.So told my husband lets go upstairs.I saw a cabinet in the place where the dresser was and felt sick.Yes i'm still sulking.lol.                                                                                                                                                    Anyway there was a 1950's tin canister set that were apples that I had wanted so at least it wasn't a total loss but I just couldn't numb the heartbreak of losing that dresser.lol.I guess I just have to let it go that this happened and I am sure I will find a dresser to match rose the lovely vanity.I am very greatful that I was able to get her when I did.Would have been great to have her and her sister. So to make this post a little happier This is what  got from there today.
My Apple canisters. So cute.$40.00Inside the big apple.lol.Close up of the big apple.I think this will be the cookie jar.lol.
I got this vase for $16.00 normally when I find these they are 70 and up.so felt lucky.
Her hair is so cute.Thats not a chip on her head. It's a peice of sticker.lol.need to clean her up.

Hubby and I spent the day out by ourselves for his belated birthday. We did alot of shopping.Well I did.lol.I will post my mall shopping spree tomorrow. But late in the day I went to my other favorite antique store just for this 1950's platter I have had my eyes on for weeks,When I first got there I couldn't find it and was like " Oh no not again."But I finally found it."phew".So here it is.
The stars are painted a gold sparkly paint but most of it has worn off but thats ok.And it even has crystals in the stars you can see them slightly.

Happy New years everyone and hope everyone has a lovely one and here's to a new year of Antiquing fun.
Love Yoli

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone.Hope you had a lovely Christmas.I did with lots of food.I got a cook book and a leopardprint bag.I forgot to take pics.Lol.I did take pics of all the junk I have fed myself. And decided a few weeks ago after today I am going back to being a vegetarian.I truely feel un healthy and meat is just grossing me out .I was vegetarian for a about 10 years and have been eating meat only 3 and I hope it's not going to be hard.I don't think it will since I know what I am doing.I went back to meat for health reasons sounds silly but no loger have the health problem. So with the New Year approaching I can start healthy and stay that way.Though hubby won't give it up I will just cook seperate meals.Did it before.Anyway back to Christmas. Here are some pics from Christmas at my house in the dirty south.
Christmas Eve hubby made corned beef pie for dinner. When I got home from work it was fresh from the oven.It was very good.My mom is very happy I married a man who likes to cook.I am too.lol.
After relaxing from work and before I wrapped presents,I did some baking.I made this butter pecan cake with creme cheese frosting.I sprinkled green sugar on top and chopped pecans. It was very nice.
I truely suck at baking cookies.I always leave them to long and they either burn black or look like this.lol.If I was making peanut brittle I would be great.so I called these chocolate chip cookies cookie brittle. They are still tasty.
I kept my cookie tin after eating all those cadbury biscuits. It is perfect for my cookie brittle.lol.
For christmas dinner we had honey spiral ham.The thing is huge.Hubby will be eating ham sandwiches forever.lol.
Also had a roast beef. This thing fell apart just touching it.
Hubby made cheesey mashed potatoes.I made green bean caserole.
I also made cornbread stuffing.
My plate of yummy and last of my meat eating days.I didn't eat ham.Pork is discusting.I can't even stand the smell of bacon.
My christmas outfit.Look at my stuffed belly.lol.Gotta have my red shoes.
Candy cane kisses for everyone.xxxx
I don't know where my mistletoe was so hubby and I kissed over candy canes.
Poor Jetta. She wasn't happy dressed as an elf.lol.So I put on my antlers so we both looked silly.Hope everyone had a merry christmas. What did you do?

Bang Bangs

I forgot to mention in my last post with all my cookie dough, that I trimmed my bangs.I am trying my hardest not to hack them back to those damn Betty bangs.I swear they are a curse.Well I haven't cut them in I don't know how long. But they are usually a betty vamp bang thats what I call them cuz I have them very pointed.Well after growing them they were wispy and super out of shape and were kind of hard to curl that way with long in the middle and shorter on the sides. This is what they looked like before I gave them a trim.
They were all scragely and horrible to even keep to the side without a pin.
And after I trimmed them and made them even.Yay I can see.lol.
Me today before work.Bone straight hair.I really like this legnth on my bangs and i'm trying to decide wether to keep them this legnth or continue growing. At least they are even now and if I grow them they will be easier to work with.I am hoping to color my hair this weekend. It sure is faded and grown out,Still got the silly dark ends.Hope everyone had a nice Monday.xx

Oh Christams Tree

I put my tree up on Monday but didn't decorate till just now.lol.I'm not really feeling the christmas mood.It seems to early and it's to warm in the south.I feel like I should be dying eggs cuz it's like spring time outside.Anyway here is my tree naked with lights.lol.
My tree already has lights.I love it.It comes in three sections and you just hook them up and plug the thing in.The only work is fluffing the branches and decorating it.

All decked out in the front room.
A close up of the decorations.
Betty Boop thinks she is the best looking.
Sorry Betty but Elvis wins best looking at all times.Another Elvis ornament. It plays thats alright mama.I want an Elvis tree one day.Poor Elvis posing with my split nail.Still have the red and gold on by china glaze.Stuff lasts forever
My son Max made an ornament out of his coke bottle. They have these every year so  always buy them.
One of my 50's ornaments.I have alot of these all from my grandmother. They remind me of little flyin saucers.
My ornaments from Germany.I have loads on the tree.My mom got them when we lived in Weisbaden.
Gotta have a milkshake.lol.
Cheese.
Here is my photo of my grandmother with santa. She loved christmas and loved Santa. My mom put it in a frame for me and I think the frame is the perfect one.I will even keep it in the frame after christmas. She always decked the house to the hilt at christmas. We always decorated the tree together while watching Rudolph and all those other christmas shows.Along with Charlie Brown and the Grinch.I still watch them to this day.She also bought me the Chipmunks christmas record which I still have, and everytime I hear one of the songs play I always think of her.Christmas sure isn't the same without her.
So do you have your tree and decorations up yet?Whats your favorite Christmas memories.
